The pain of making gains is not just physical. You might have heard it before, but you are going to hear it again and again because it’s true. There will come a day when your body won’t allow you to make any more progress than what you already made. That day may or may not be today.
You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you all this if I don’t think it matters?
Well, let me tell you why it does matter. If you want to get bigger and stronger, then you need to start thinking about your goals now. You need to make them now! Don’t wait until tomorrow or next year or even ten years from now! Start doing something right NOW so that when the time comes, you’ll be ready for whatever challenges life throws at you.
I’ve been working out since I was fourteen. My first job was selling magazines door-to-door at sixteen.
I worked my way up through the ranks of advertising sales, eventually becoming a copywriter for one of the largest companies in the world. When I wasn’t writing ads, I’d spend hours lifting weights and training with some of the best powerlifters in America. I have three Doctorates, two in Philosophy and one in Economics. I make more money than you could ever imagine.
And do you want to know what it all comes down to?
The future doesn’t matter.
Will you still be benching 300 pounds when you’re fifty? Will you still be able to eat all the meat your heart desires?
Probably not. Age takes everything from all of us. It’s about enjoying what you have NOW, not what you think you’ll have in the future.
What do you like to do? What are you good at?
Forget about getting stronger or bigger or faster and focus on the things that really matter in life.
You like video games but you’re too old for them?
Stop it. You will always be a kid at heart.
I want to watch cartoons all day but can’t find any good ones anymore?
Watch them anyway.
You want to be a writer but your stories aren’t good enough yet?
Do you like lifting weights and all it’s given you in confidence and health?
Keep doing it.
If you’re like most people, then you probably have lots of unfinished projects in your life that you’ll never get back to. For some reason, we start things and then lose interest in them soon after.
If you’re not careful, this will continue to happen until you die. Don’t let it. Pick one thing that you like and focus on it. Be the best at it. If you find something else that peaks your interest along the way, then by all means, explore that too. But make sure you return to your first passion at some point.
Why am I telling you all of this?
Well, I want to tell everyone this because everyone needs to hear it. I also want to tell you this because I saw something in you the other day that I haven’t seen in years, maybe decades. I saw that spark that we all have when we first start working out. You have a passion for working out and I want to see that continue. So here’s my offer to you:
I want to see you become the strongest gym rat this city has ever seen. I want to see you set new standards for yourself and others.
I want to see you become a stronger person mentally, physically, and emotionally. I want to see you become the person you’re meant to be.
And I believe that you can do it.
Are you ready to take on the challenge?
Now let’s get to work.
In case you’re wondering, this is a bit of a homage to Chronicles of Narnia. I used to love that series as a kid and thought it would be funny if an actual adult wrote something like that for the main character.
Make sure to let me know if you’re up for the challenge by replying to this email. If enough of you are interested, we can start the first “class” next week.
Until next time.
How Strong Gets Published
Sorry I haven’t been keeping up on emails as much. I’ve been really busy in the last week since the “How Strong” bodybuilding ebook got published.
Thanks to your help, and a bit of tweaking by me, it managed to catch the attention of some publisher. They offered me a book deal and even gave me full creative license on it!
Things are really starting to look up for me. I got a book deal, I’m on my way to getting my own TV show again, and things with Alison are going great.
I’ll send you guys an autographed copy of the book once it comes out!
Thanks again for your help.
How Strong TV Show
Some of you already know, but for those that don’t, I have my own TV show now. It’s called How Strong and it’s a reality show where I travel around the country and help people with their fitness and health issues.
It’s actually pretty fun and we’ve had a great reception so far. I’m sending you a link to the latest episode. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Return To Weight Gain
I just got back from the gym and just wanted to let you know you’re an inspiration. I’ve been following your book now for about a month and I’ve already gained 7 pounds.
It’s amazing because I feel so much more confident. Even girls are starting to notice me now!
Thanks for being such an inspiration.
Victor’s TV Show – How Strong
I just found out that Victor’s TV show is going to be called “How Strong.” Apparently he’s got some new personal trainer working with him now and she convinced the studio to change the name.
I guess they think it will be better received that way.
Personally, I don’t care what they call it as long as it gets good ratings. Those are the only thing that matter to me in this line of work.
However, I do have to admit that How Strong sounds a lot better than what they were calling it, “Victor Strong and his Amazing Trainer.”
Just shows that you can’t judge a book by its cover.
– Make sure to watch tonight!
How Strong Gets Green-Lit!
How Strong got green-lit yesterday! I was a little worried there for a minute, but Alan managed to convince the studio head to give it a shot.
Apparently he’d been on the fence about it until he watched the latest episode where Victor saved that one kid from drowning.
I can’t believe they’re giving this ” How Strong” show a chance. I thought it was a great idea, but I guess only time will tell if it succeeds or not.
I’ll keep you guys posted.
How Strong Debuts Tonight!
Tonight is the night everyone. How Strong debuts tonight and I’m sitting here at the TV studio as we speak.
A lot of people have been counting this show out, but I know it’s going to be a hit.
I’m a little biased of course, but the show has done a great job so far of showing Victor’s softer side while still displaying his hardcore determination. Everyone loves a hero and Victor’s just that.
I’m proud to have been a part of this project from the beginning and hopefully it’ll go on for a long time.
That’s all for now, but make sure to watch How Strong tonight!
How Strong is a Hit!
How Strong premiered last night to rave reviews! The first episode already has over 80 million views and climbing.
Thanks in part to How Strong, Victor’s new trainer, Alison has landed her own fitness reality show as well. Her first episode was about teaching a group of women how to defend themselves against a stronger attacker.
It was very well received and we’re already getting offers for more episodes.
I’m not worried about her thriving without Victor. They’ll be back together in no time.
That’s all for now.
Victor’s Next Big Move
Due to the success of How Strong and Alison’s fitness show, Victor has become a household name. His next move should be easy to predict, an autobiography.
I’ve seen a few sample pages of it and it looks good so far. We’re not going to mess around with it.
We’re going to go big! A hardback copy with full color pages. We should have a good chunk of it completed in the next few weeks.
That’s all for now,
Victor’s New Show!
So after our success with How Strong and Alison’s Fitness Show, Victor wants to join the party and get his own show again. I don’t blame him.
He’s definitely earned it. I just wish I knew what he was thinking for a concept.
I guess we’re thinking a reality show. He says he’s been watching a lot of them and he thinks its the direction to go.
The big question is what kind of reality show does Victor do?
He’s thinking something along the lines of involving adventures. Something that takes him out of the studio and into the field, so to speak. Some kind of survival show has been mentioned, but I really don’t think that’s Victor. He’s not the most outdoor type.
I’ve put out some feelers to see if any production companies have anything like that in the works. So far nothing has turned up yet, but its still early.
That’s all for now!
Victor’s New Show – Pick a Concept Already!
So after I last wrote, Victor and I went back and forth on potential reality show concepts for him. It ranged from the ideas like the ones I mentioned in my last email, to some really out there concepts.
For example at one point he wanted to do a show where his entire staff would get plastic surgery to please him more.
That was a little too far, even for me.
We’ve definitely got some options to pick from. I just wish he’d make up his mind already so we can get started on promoting the new show and getting it launched.
That’s all for now,
Victor’s New Show – Pilot Approved
So Victor has chosen a concept for his new show. He’s going to help people.
That’s right. He’s going to help people in need. The show is going to be called Helping Hands and it’s going to feature Victor reaching out to struggling people, businesses, and community events and try to help make their lives, or event better. It can range from anything like helping a struggling bakery by ordering their product to giving money to a single mother to help her pay for her son’s education.
The show also helps promote his charity, which will be named Helping Hands as well. All the money made from the show will go towards funding the charity as well, so it’s a win-win for everyone!
I’ve already gotten a bunch of tips from people who watched the pilot, which is currently being edited and should be ready to air on the first episode! I can’t believe it, but it looks like this might be a reality show that actually has a good concept, that won’t be trashy, and might even be positive for people to watch!
I’m really happy for Victor. This is probably one of the best decisions he’s made in a while.
It took him long enough, but I’m glad he finally grew as a person.
I guess finding love can do that to you, which is pretty funny to think about, given the fact that Victor is going to be on a show to help people find love…
Well it’s a good thing I’m not a jealous person!
That’s all for now,
Victor’s New Show – Success!
The show is a hit! I knew it would be.
I’ve already started getting offers for more shows from other people to help with producing or hosting. This is great! I’m glad that I finally decided to take a risk and go out on my own like this. I think this could really take me somewhere in the industry.
On a personal note, I’m also glad to see that Victor’s new show is getting him out there and making him a more likable person. He seems so much happier now.
And of course now that the show is a hit, it’s brought him and Leila closer together, so that’s another plus.
I guess love can change people for the better!
As for me, things are going great for me too. I’ve been in talks with a major network about getting my own dating show!
It’s all still in the early planning stages right now and I’m just waiting to hear back from them about it, but if they pick it up then I’ll be set and my career will be officially launched!
I’m also dating a new guy. His name is Ryan and he’s in the industry as well.
He’s a makeup artist, so he works on some of the lower rated news shows and some of the terrible reality shows, but it’s not a bad little income to have.
He’s not a great guy, but then again none of them have been since Jacob. Still, he treats me well enough and we have a lot in common so I’m not opposed to giving him a chance.
I guess things are going well for me. It’s good to be positive about life once in awhile rather than always thinking the worst is going to happen.
I wish I could’ve learned that lesson a lot sooner, but then I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to pursue this path and that would’ve been tragic.
I hope you’re doing well wherever you are Jacob. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
“And we’re clear!” The director shouts from his chair.
“Alright, great job everyone! Let’s take five!” The assistant director shouts.
I sit up from the leather couch I’ve been laying on and stretch my arms and back. Sitting in this costume for too long makes me feel like I’m wrapped in a suit of medieval armor.
Still, I have to admit, it really does look great on camera.
I remove my headpiece and walk over to one of the video village’s monitors to see how I looked during that last take. I watch as the director and camera crew adjust the cameras and lighting as I review myself.
I’m a blonde elf, though not just any blonde elf. I’m a Sun Elf, which apparently in this world is a dying race, which is odd considering they’re elves.
I don’t speak with a German accent either. In fact none of the characters in this show do, which the director assured me was very uncommon for this type of show and yet another reason why he wanted as much authenticity as possible.
I watch as the monitor shows me in full costume kneeling on one knee while looking menacingly at the viewer. I can see what he means about the costume.
It really is something. Then again, I can’t say I’ve ever seen an elf wear anything quite like this before.
I look truly otherworldly in this outfit and it’s not just the costume. The makeup helps, but even without it, I still wouldn’t look like anything a human being would ever come into contact with.
My eyes are a bright blue and my face is shaped slightly different than a human face. Even my ears are pointed. I’m told that the ears are one of the most expensive and hardest things to create for this show.
I never thought I’d be an actor before, but after seeing myself on camera and then on a monitor, I think I might have a little bit of talent for it. I guess playing pretend was something Lisa was right about.
Too bad she wasn’t interested herself. She would’ve been good at this.
Hey Kit, are you ready for your close-up?”
Ryan asks, walking over to me.
“I sure hope so.” I say looking back at him.
“You’ll be fine. You’ve been doing great so far.
I’ve seen the dailies and you’re really capturing the spirit of the character.”
“Thanks, but I’m still not sure that this is something I want to continue doing. I sort of want to get back to the real world after this.”
“It is a bit of a change, but this is a great first job and I’m sure you’ll find something else just as suitable once this is over.”
“I hope so.
How about you’re Cisco?”
“Meh, he’s OK. He’s a little full of himself sometimes, but he’s not wrong. He saw you in that coffee shop and immediately wanted you to try out for this show. I think he may have a little crush on you.”
“Oh, I see how it is, you’re sticking up for him because he’s got a crush on you.”
No! He’s like my brother!”
“Sure, keep telling yourself that. Anyway, I’m going to go take my position.
Let’s do this.”
I walk back over to the leather couch and sit down as everyone gets into their positions. The director calls action and the scene begins.
Ryan and the rest of his entourage walk in with a ton of guards in tow. I stand up from the couch as Ryan commands everyone’s attention.
Now this man is obviously not one of us, so why is he here? Carter?”
“This is the man I was talking about earlier Sir. He was quite insistent on meeting you and claims he has information of value.
He says he has information on the whereabouts of the rebels who killed Baroness Ludmilla.” I say.
What are you waiting for, a written invitation?
Get over here!” he says.
OK. Um, right…” I say and walk over to the group.
What’s your name?”
“Just Kit Sir.”
“Mmmm. I have a good mind to kill you right now to show this rabble what happens when you mess with Baron Randwulf’s dominion, but perhaps you can be more useful to me alive if you actually have some information worth hearing.”
“I do Sir. The rebels are planning to attack the city during the Annual Trade Summit.”
“Ha! I’ve gotten that much myself just by having security double during this time.
“Um… they have people placed on the inside, so to speak. So even with extra security, the city’s guards won’t know what hit them until its too late.”
Who’s on the inside?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t get that information.”
“So you don’t have anything useful after all.”
“I got one more piece of information Sir.”
Let me guess, it’s the location of the rebels’ hideout?”
“No Sir, but they will be at the Trade Summit too to make their move.”
“So you do have something of use after all. Hmm, maybe you can be of some use after all.
What is it that you want in exchange for this information?”
“Ah… freedom Sir.”
You’ve been spying on the wrong movies American Pie.”
“No Sir, I mean I want my freedom. My life Sir.
I want to be free.”
Now why would I do that?
It costs me nothing to have you killed and besides that, you’re a traitor to your homeland!
Why should I reward you?”
“I don’t want anything other than my freedom Sir. It’s the least you can do after I helped you.”
“You put yourself into this position, but fine, you’ve made your point.
You want your freedom?
How Sir? How can I earn my freedom?”
“Fight for me of course. Join my army and gain your freedom that way.”
I will Sir. Thank you!”
Then it’s settled. Now leave so I can get on with important matters.”
I turn to walk away, but the guard grabs my arm.
Where do you think your going?”
“I was told I could go.
