Brad Borland

Brad Borland was born in 1981 in San Diego, California. His father is a retired Navy Seal and his mother is a former cheerleader. Brad attended the University of Southern California where he majored in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Management. After graduation, he worked at the NFL Network as an intern before joining the Los Angeles Rams’ front office staff as their Director of College Scouting from 2009 to 2011. During his time there, he helped draft Sam Bradford and drafted several other young players including Aaron Donald, Alec Ogletree, Michael Brockers and Robert Quinn. He left the Rams to become the General Manager of the St Louis Rams in 2012.

In 2013, he became the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers after they were eliminated from playoff contention by Seattle Seahawks. He led them to a 9-7 record and into the playoffs where they lost to New England Patriots in the NFC Championship Game. They would go on to lose to Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLVII.

Borland then took over as Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars where he went 8-8 in 2014. He was fired by owner Shahid Khan due to poor play on the field, lack of effort off it and failure to meet expectations. In his lone season with the Jaguars, the team showed no marked improvement under Borland and finished on a 3-game losing streak.

After the firing, rumors spread that he had lost the respect of his players and would often show up to team meetings drunk.

Borland was then hired as a special assistant to owner Al Davis in 2015 for his hometown team, the Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League. He was later promoted to the position of General Manager. He is married to his wife Tina and has one son, Aiden and a daughter, Allison.

He also coaches his son’s flag football team.

He is currently working on a book about his life with former New York Giants defensive end and NFL Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor. The book will highlight his road to redemption, redemption from the multiple mistakes he made while in charge of the Jacksonville Jaguars. It will detail how he plans on returning the pride and respect back to the Raiders organization.

There have been rumors that there is another book being written by one of his assistant coaches containing very negative allegations against him. It will be interesting to see what comes of them, but for now, he is focused on turning the Raiders around and getting them into the Super Bowl for the first time since 1984.

His main focus is on changing the culture of the team to a winning environment with the help of owner Davis and head coach Tom Flores.
