CrossFit is a fitness program developed by Greg Glassman. It was created in 2005, and it became popular among the general public. Its popularity increased with its introduction into gyms worldwide, especially in the United States. The program’s main goal is to increase strength and endurance through various exercises performed at high intensity intervals over time periods ranging from short bursts (5 seconds) to long ones (15 minutes).

The program uses a variety of equipment including treadmills, free weights, kettlebells, barbells and other implements. Participants are required to complete a prescribed number of repetitions per exercise before moving onto the next one. There are three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The first two levels require participants to perform sets of 10 reps; the third level requires them to do so for 20 reps or more.

According to the latest statistics, there are approximately 50,000 CrossFit gyms around the world. The most common type of training programs used by CrossFitters include interval training, which involves performing multiple workouts during a single day. These workouts are often done at very high intensities and last between 30 seconds and 2 minutes each. They are usually followed by rest periods of 5–10 minutes.

One of the most popular CrossFit training methods is the “Spartan Race.”

CrossFit contains a heavy emphasis on specialized fitness. At its core, participants are encouraged to work out daily and push themselves to their limits. The program uses elements of weightlifting, plyometrics, calisthenics, Olympic weightlifting, sprints, and gymnastics. Its conditioning routines make use of these elements and are often completed consecutively for five minutes or more.

It is very important for you to check equipment before starting a CrossFit session. In case you find some defect, inform your instructor and request to replace the damaged goods. Most gyms keep spare equipment so as to not inconvenience their members.

CrossFit gyms are often controlled by one or more individuals known as “instructors,” who monitor workouts and make sure that participants are using proper form. At times, there are also group fitness instructors who lead sessions that involve calisthenics or light weightlifting.

CrossFit exercises are often very demanding and never allow you to give up. This is because they target a large number of muscles in your body and work them all at the same time. These exercises help build muscle strength and endurance and burn a significant number of calories both during and after the session is over.

CrossFit uses equipment that is common in most gyms like running shoes, weightlifting belts and other items. Certain CrossFit boxes also have specialized equipment such as ropes, plyo boxes and medicine ball throws.

CrossFit exercises are typically divided into the following categories:

Gymnastics- moves that are facilitated by body weight, such as pull-ups, push-ups and squats

Lifting- moves that involve lifting heavy weights, such as deadlifts and snatches

Thrusters- exercises that involve a pushing motion followed by a squat and then repeating this pattern continuously, such as kettlebell thrusters

Runs- any exercise that involves running at a particular pace or for a specific distance

You can join a CrossFit session either as a one-off or you can also buy a monthly pass. The price will vary depending on which of the two options you choose. CrossFit classes are usually quite affordable.

It is important that you set realistic goals before you start any Crossfit program. Remember that this is a highly demanding sport and it’s not unusual to feel exhausted or sore while you are engaged in it. The most important thing is to enjoy yourself, listen to your instructor and drink plenty of water.
