Dave Matthews Band: Crash Into Me

The Dave Matthews Band was formed in 1993 by singer/songwriter, guitarist and song writer Dave Matthews (born August 3, 1964). After graduating from high school in 1989, he began playing guitar at local bars and clubs around Nashville. He soon moved to Los Angeles where he played with several bands including the Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Trio, the DMB’s first full length album “Down Under” was released in 1991.

In 1994, the band recorded their second album “Time to Pretend” which featured guest appearances by John Hiatt (of Aerosmith) and David Lee Roth (of Mötley Crüe). The album reached number three on Billboard’s Country Album Chart.

After the release of Time To Pretend, Matthews left the group to concentrate on his solo career. However, after the success of “Time To Pretend”, the band decided to re-form. They toured extensively throughout 1995 and 1996 before releasing their third studio album “Out of Step”.

The album reached number one on Billboard’s Rock Album Chart.

Following the release of Out of Step, the band continued touring and recording new material until they were forced to cancel some dates due to poor ticket sales. This was the first time in the bands career that they had failed to sell out shows, leading some people to believe that the Dave Matthews Band’s best days were behind them.

However, the following year the band released “Before these Crowded Streets”, which reached number two on the Billboard 200 and sold more than any of their previous releases. The album was also nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards.

The group released three more studio albums before going on hiatus in the early 2000s. The albums included the live album “Listener Supported” (2000), the band’s fifth studio album “Busted Stuff” (2001) and their sixth studio album “Stand Up” (2002). In 2006, the band reunited to release their seventh studio album “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King”
