Do You Have Low Stomach Acid?

Low stomach acid is one of the most common health problems in modern times. It affects almost everyone, but it’s especially prevalent among women. If you have ever been diagnosed with low stomach acid, then you are aware that your life could be very different from now on.

What Is Low Stomach Acid?

The term “low” refers to the amount of acidity present in the blood; while “acid” refers to the pH level of the blood. A normal pH level is 7.35 or greater. When the blood contains less than 7.35 of neutral (alkaline) substances, it becomes acidic and when it contains more than 7.35 of acids, it becomes basic (basic).

In other words, if you had a glass of water with a pH level of 3, it would not taste right to anyone else because its pH level was too alkaline! We taste things the way they are. It would taste bitter if it had a low pH level (1-2) due to an excess of acid and it would taste sweet if it had a high pH level (9-10) due to an excess of alkaline (base). Our bodies are made up mostly of water, so it is no surprise that when our body fluids become acidic, we experience flu-like symptoms.

When we consume soda, fruit juice, coffee, or alcohol, our bodies become acidic because these items have an excess of acids in them. This explains why we may experience heartburn when we drink too much coffee or colas.

If we continue to abuse our bodies with an excess of acidic substances, the blood will eventually lose its ability to maintain a proper pH balance and it will become too acidic! At this point, it’s crucial that we start alkalizing the body. This is because an acidic body will no longer be able to fight off diseases and this will make us very susceptible to getting sick.

How Do I Restore My Body Acidity To Normal?

Your body can restore its own acidity levels through a process known as buffering. In plain English, this means that your body can neutralize itself by releasing alkaline substances into the blood stream in order to maintain a proper pH level.

The only problem with this is that your body can only release a certain amount of these substances before it becomes depleted. Once your body reaches this state, it no longer has the ability to maintain a proper pH balance and this is when acidic symptoms start to appear. These symptoms can range from heartburn to cancer. What is important to understand is that maintaining a proper acid/alkaline balance is crucial for overall health and well-being.

Our modern diets consist mainly of refined sugars and carbohydrates (breads, pastas, etc.) and fats (fried foods, butter, meat, etc.) Our bodies break these foods down into simple sugars (glucose), fatty acids, and triglycerides. While this may satisfy our hunger, they also contribute to maintaining an acidic internal environment. This is why it is extremely important to drink enough water every day in order to dilute and flush out these harmful acidicchemicals.

How Much Water Should I Drink?

The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) of water is roughly 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women. Note that this does not include the water content in foods. This means that even if you consume watery fruits and vegetables, you will still need to drink more water than the recommended values. It is also important to note that these values were determined for a sedentary individual. If you regularly exercise, then you may need to drink more than the recommended amounts.

The easiest way to remember how much water you should drink is the “8×8 rule.” According to this rule, you should be drinking 8 ounces of water 8 times every day. Of course, this may not always be feasible, especially if you are busy at work or attending classes and do not have time to constantly run to the bathroom. If this is the case for you, then you need to find time in your daily schedule to drink the required amount of water. Check your local water sources for lead levels.

Is Bottled Water Better Than Tap Water?

There has been some recent controversy over whether or not bottled water is actually better than tap water. While it is true that certain cities may have more contaminants in their water than other places, the US government requires all public water supplies to comply with FDA recommendations. This means that regardless if you get your water from a bottle or from a tap, you can be sure it is fresh and clean. Also, bottled water may be convenient, but it is extremely expensive and has a negative effect on the environment.

If you still prefer to use a bottled water, then make sure to check the bottle for a USDA seal. It is also recommended that you only purchase sealed bottles from the refrigerator section of your local store because these bottles are more likely to retain their original freshness. As a last resort, you can even purchase a home water purification system to ensure that you are getting the best quality water for you and your family.

NOTE: If your home’s water supply comes from a private well, then it may be necessary to have it tested on a regular basis in order to avoid any potential contaminants.

As mentioned previously, maintaining proper hydration is essential for overall health. It is relatively easy to determine if you are drinking too much water. If you find that you need to urinate more than usual, or if you are suffering from extreme thirst, then you probably are not drinking enough water.

However, it can be more difficult to tell if you are dehydrated. There are some general signs that your body gives off when it is experiencing dehydration. It is important to recognize these symptoms because they can be life threatening if left untreated.
