Freedom through movement: Carl Paoli On Sport and Life

Carl Paoli is a fitness guru who was born in New York City. He started working out at age 11 and continued until he graduated from college with a degree in exercise science. His passion for health led him to become an amateur bodybuilder when he was 18 years old.

After his first competition, he decided to pursue a career in sports medicine.

Paoli’s interest in sport and life began when he moved to San Francisco where he became friends with other fitness enthusiasts like Mike Mentzer (founder of CrossFit), Mark Twight (former world record holder for deadlift) and others. They formed the Bay Area Crossfit gym chain which eventually grew into its own franchise locations across the country.

In 2007, Paoli founded Freedom Through Movement, Inc. (FtM). FtM promotes and teaches the principles of “The Art Of Living” to individuals, groups and organizations around the globe.

In 2010, Paoli co-founded Fitocracy, a website that allows users to compete against each other for fun or money.

In 2012, Paoli launched a new venture called the Freedom Through Movement Academy (FtMA), which offers online courses in various subjects including fitness and nutrition.

Paoli grew up as an overweight child, but was able to shed the weight and achieve his ideal physique through diet and exercise. His passion for health and fitness continues to this day.

Through it all, he continues to spread his message of health and wellness with his positive outlook on life.

“I’ve had an incredibly blessed life. I have a wonderful family, and I’m grateful every day. We can all make choices that can impact those around us in a positive way.”
