How to Get a Faster Punch: A Guide To Better Punches

The first thing you need to do when learning how to get a faster punch is learn the basics. You will have no problem if you just start with the basic moves like the jab, cross, straight or uppercut. These are all very simple and easy to master.

However, there is one move which can really make your punching speed skyrocket! That’s the hook kick!

What Is Hook Kick?

Hook kicks are basically kicks that come from the side instead of straight forward. They’re usually performed by kicking while turning your body around. There are two types of hooks, the front hook and back hook. The front hook is used most often because it’s easier to perform and doesn’t require much strength (or stamina) to execute it properly. The back hook is usually used in combination with other attacks such as the uppercut or roundhouse kick.

There are many reasons why you should learn how to get a faster punch with hook kick. First of all, these kicks are extremely effective at knocking out opponents. If you’ve ever seen any action movie, then you’ll know that they’re always used against tough guys who are stronger than normal humans! Another good thing about hook kicks is that you can perform them from almost any position. You can also deliver a myriad of different types of hook kicks depending on the situation you’re in.

Getting Started With How To Get A Faster Punch

Now that you know why you should start learning how to get a faster punch with hook kick, it’s time to do this! We’ll be using a punching bag as our target for this exercise so grab one and let’s start! Grab a punching bag that’s hung up fairly high so that your feet can’t reach it.

Try to find the balance point of this punching bag. This is the position where the punching bag will balance itself when you let go of it. This is usually when you’re standing straight and not leaning in any direction.

Why Do You Need To Find The Balancing Point?

This is the most stable position for the punching bag. You will need to shift your weight from side to side when you perform hook kicks. If the punching bag is not in a balanced position, then you will lose time and momentum which could be disastrous during a real fight!

The Proper Way Of Doing Hook Kicks

We’ll be using the front hook kick for this exercise so turn to your left and place your right foot in front of your left foot. Next, lift your left knee up and bend your right knee. Now bring your right foot forward until it reaches the same level as your left foot.

Your left knee should just be slightly bent at this point so that it’s still supporting most of your weight. Now bring your left foot towards the punching bag while keeping your body balanced.

Bring your left leg back to return to a standing position while bringing your right leg forward. You will end up in a left foot forward, right leg back position, just like you were when you started. Now do this repeatedly except bring your right foot towards the punching bag instead of your left.

You should be performing hook kicks! Do this for at least five minutes (or more) everyday. With enough practice, you’ll be able to perform these hook kicks without having to look as far as you’re going to kick!

One of the most important things when learning how to get a faster punch with hook kick is to keep your balance. As you are performing these hook kicks, it is very easy to lose your balance. It takes a lot of training to perfect this so don’t get discouraged if you can’t do it after only a few tries.

Just keep trying and you’ll be doing it right in no time at all.

Another thing you must remember is that these hook kicks are just for defense. Unless you have the skill and training of a master fighter, it is best not to use hook kicks on any opponent.

Warning – Punching bags are not soft and will cause injury to your hands if you don’t wrap them up in cloth first. So please, be advised not to punch the punching bag if your hands are not properly wrapped.

Warning – Punching a punching bag can be very addictive. Some have been known to spend hours on it, which can result in early signs of obesity if not careful. Please do not over-do practice as this may lead to shortening your career span.
