Is Jiu-Jitsu going to be annoying with all the time that it requires?
A: The quick answer is no, for various reasons. First off, after you have been doing Jiu-Jitsu a while, your body will crave the activity. Second, you are going to learn that it is much easier to diet when you are active. Third, your workouts will be cut in half because you are working out twice a day! Finally, you are going to meet a lot of new friends and build relationships with people at the school which will add to your quality of life.
Q: I am really short and stocky, will I be at a disadvantage against someone taller than me?
A: Not at all. Jiu-Jitsu does not care about size or strength. If you learn the techniques properly the person who knows how to apply the right technique at the right time will win, regardless of size or strength.
Q: I have been playing a lot of video games lately and really like the violent aspect of controlling the character.
Does Jiu-Jitsu lend itself to this type of play?
A: Yes, it is very fun to emulate what you do in class and use those moves on your siblings, friends, or parents.

A: We have had several students come to us in this situation. While it won’t fix every situation, it does help instill discipline and respect in children which are both necessary to become a functional member of society.
Q: I was involved in a sport in school and did pretty well, why shouldn’t I join your school?
A: The reason why you should not is you would not be eligible for most of our competitions due to being a transfer student. However, if you want to take private lessons, we can certainly work something out.
Q: I have a physical disability, can I still learn Jiu-Jitsu?
A: Yes, in fact we have several students with several types of disabilities. Jiu-Jitsu is a very effective martial art for people with any type of physical limitation. It can also be modified to accommodate your specific needs.
Q: Does your school have a good team?
A: Yes, our competition team is very strong and has great success at local and national competitions.
Q: Will the classes be too hard for me?
A: Our beginner classes are designed for people with no experience. If you can move, then you can train.
Q: Is there anything else I should know before I join?
A: The most important thing to remember is we all have two objectives. 1) Learn self-defense and 2) Have fun. If you keep these two things in mind, then nothing else really matters.
