Mark McManus was born January 19th, 1963 in San Diego County California. He died February 28th, 2014 at the age of 46 years old. His death came after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind two children: his son Andrew and daughter Lauren.
His obituary states: “He lived life to the fullest; he loved life to its fullest extent.”
The obituary goes on to say that he had a passion for photography, which he used to take pictures of everything from his family’s adventures around the world to his travels through the desert in Arizona. He also took photos of many of his friends and loved ones. One such photo was of him with his sister Lauren (who was only 16 when they were married).
In addition to being a photographer, Mark was an avid outdoorsman and a hunter. He was a member of several hunting clubs and served on various committees for the National Wildlife Federation.
As a photographer, he specialized in landscapes and nature images. He enjoyed taking photographs of all kinds of animals including birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects and even fish. Some of his favorite subjects included deserts, mountains, waterfalls and other natural settings.
One thing that is not mentioned in his obituary is how much he loved photographing himself with his camera. He had a keen eye for taking self portraits and many of his photos were of himself in his basement darkroom.
He is survived by his two children, his sister and parents.
Mark’s sister and parents ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation in Mark’s memory.
A funeral for Mark will be held on Thursday, March 6th at Hillside Chapel at 11:00 AM. The address is 5751 Rosemead Blvd.
