For example, if you were going to run 100 yards then choose a low-calorie exercise such as walking instead of running. If you were going to walk 100 yards then choose a high-calorie exercise such as jogging instead of running.

How Many Calories Are Burned During An Hour Of Exercise?
You may have heard that you burn 300 calories per hour when exercising at your maximum heart rate (HRmax). This is not too far from the truth. As a general rule of thumb, the average person will burn between 250 to 450 calories during an hour of exercise at their maximum heart rate.
What exactly does this mean?
Well, you can see that if you are willing and able to push yourself really hard during one of these activities then you may be able to burn up to 500 calories per hour. On the flip side, if you are not very fit and struggle to complete a session at your maximum heart rate then you may only burn 250 calories per hour.

The general rule of thumb for determining how many calories a person should eat per day to gain weight is to multiply your current weight by 16. For example, if you are 150 pounds then you need to eat 1800 calories each day in order to gain weight. As a general guideline, if you are very active, your calorie consumption should be equal to or greater than the amount of calories that you burn each day. If you are less active then you may consume fewer calories than you burn, but do not go too low or you risk nutrient deficiencies.

Due to the huge variation in quality and style of cardio exercises it is not possible to say that one type of exercise is better than all the others. For example, running and cycling are great cardiovascular exercises, but they do little for strengthening your muscles. On the other hand, a workout like cross-training (which involves activities such as running, biking, swimming and weightlifting) is not only beneficial for cardio, but also develops muscular strength as well.

As mentioned above, there are many great forms of cardio that you can substitute for running if you do not like to run or do not have the time to run. Here are some of the best ones: Swimming: This is a great low-impact activity that will help to burn fat and lose weight. It is a very good activity to choose if you are injured as it puts almost no pressure on your joints.
Elliptical Trainers: These are great for getting your heart rate up while protecting your joints at the same time. They can be a little boring to some people, but they are a great substitute for running.
Biking: This is another great low-impact exercise that is both fun and healthy. It is also a great way to see the outdoors and enjoy yourself while losing weight.
StairMaster: This is a great exercise machine that allows you to workout in the comfort of your own home. It is also great as it mimicks the movement of running without putting any pressure on your knees or ankles.

The most common way that people measure their weight loss is by taking before and after pictures of themselves. This is not the most accurate way of tracking your weight loss, but it certainly is one of the easiest. To measure your weight loss, all you have to do is take a picture of yourself completely naked first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Then you do this again after you have completed your diet program and the results should be noticeable. As a general rule of thumb for every 1 pound that you lose, your face will look 5 years younger and for every 10 pounds that you lose, your face will look a full year younger.
