Some Pre-CrossFit Games Reflections From Carson

In 2007 I was fortunate enough to compete at the first ever CrossFit Games in San Diego. My name is Carson Stapleton and I am from Austin Texas. For those of you who don’t know me, my goal is to become a professional bodybuilder like Ronnie Coleman or Mike Mentzer.

I have been training since I was 12 years old when my dad took me to see Mr. Olympia John Blachley (who was then still competing).

Since then I have competed in several shows including the National Physique Championships, the Arnold Classic, and even won a regional competition at one time. I am currently ranked #1 in Texas for bench press.

My favorite part of being a competitive athlete is getting to train with some of the best athletes in the world such as Ronnie Coleman, Mike Mentzer, Ryan Kennelly and many others.

However, I would not trade my athletic life for anything. There are certain things in life that just make you happy no matter what your goals may be.

One of these is working out and competing in the CrossFit Games.

The last few years have been extremely busy for me and it’s made me realize how much I love this sport and all its possibilities. It makes me want to keep pushing myself so that one day I will be able to compete at the next Games!

I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’m sure it’s not going to get any easier but regardless of whether I win or lose, the only thing that is important to me is that I am true to myself and compete with honor.
