The best interval timer app is very simple. You have to complete intervals with a set time limit. If you fail to do so, your workout will be over. There are no complicated settings or menus, just one button press and you’re done!

The only thing you need to worry about is how long you want your intervals to last. The longer they are, the better your results will be.

There are many different apps out there, but most of them don’t really offer anything new or unique. They all follow the same formula:

1) Set a goal (e.

g., “I want to run 5 miles”)

2) Select a length of time (e.

g., “5 minutes” or “15 minutes” or “30 minutes”)

3) Press start and wait for the timer to count down

4) Stop when it reaches zero

You may think that the idea behind such an exercise routine sounds pretty boring.

After all, isn’t running a mile simply too easy?

And how much can you really improve it by only extending the length of time (from one mile to two miles to three miles and so forth) or increasing the speed (e.g., from a jog to a run to a sprint)?

To be honest, I don’t think anybody is going to enjoy this kind of training. However, doing it in intervals can make the experience much more bearable:

You get to start with a smaller commitment (i.e. 1 minute of running in place) You get to increase the difficulty gradually You get to rest much more often than you do during traditional endurance training

This is why interval training is preferred by athletes and professional sports teams everywhere: It produces superior results without sacrificing one’s health.
