CrossFit Level 1 Certification Requirements:

You must have completed at least one full year of college or university with a major in exercise science, physical therapy, kinesiology, nutrition or similar field. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to teach others how to perform basic movements like squats and deadlifts. You must be able to show them how they can improve their own strength and conditioning through proper technique.

You must be able to provide instruction on proper form and the importance of training intensity. You must be able to teach proper dieting and supplementation strategies.

There are many people who want to become coaches but don’t have the required experience. They think it’s easy because they’ve been doing it for years without any problems.

But what happens when you take someone who has no prior coaching experience and put him/her in charge of a group of athletes? What kind of results will they get?

If you’re thinking “I’m not going to do that!” then I would say good luck with that too. Because you are going to at least be providing some kind of instruction for one or more individuals. You need to be aware of this and prepare yourself for it. Don’t think that you can just “wing it” because you’ll end up with far worse results than if you were properly prepared in the first place.

If you truly want to be a good coach, then you need someone who has the experience and knowledge about how to do it. That’s why there is a certification process in the first place. It weeds out the people who are serious from those who are just wishing and hoping that they can get away with it.

You are not going to be learning how to do it on the fly. If you need a little extra help, then that’s what seminars and courses are for.

If you’ve done any amount of research on Crossfit, you’ve probably heard the buzz about it. Crossfit has grown in popularity over the years and its renown for its intense conditioning. Many are drawn to it because it offers a unique challenge unlike anything else they’ve ever experienced.

Some people also participate in it because it promises to deliver incredible results with fast paced workouts that push your body to the limit.

You may be one of those people who have heard the buzz and want to try it out for yourself. After all, going to a regular gym routine every once in awhile just isn’t doing it for you anymore and a friend has told you to try out Crossfit. You’ve noticed the gym in town that has the word “Crossfit” in its name so you decide to check it out.

You soon learn that there are different types of Crossfit gyms. There are those that provide Crossfit as a means to their own end. For example some gyms focus mainly on strength and power such as weightlifting, bodybuilding and similar activities.

Others use Crossfit as a means to train for other sports such as running, football or even mixed martial arts (MMA).

You have come across one of the many Crossfit affiliates that exist in most towns and cities. These gyms focus on using Crossfit as a way to train for general fitness for anyone in the community. Once you begin talking to one of the trainers there, you learn that this gym has a very specific set of principles that its trainers follow.

You get the impression that they are quite strict about their approach because they seem to look down on any other type of training except for Crossfit.

You’ve done a lot of research on different types of fitness and you’ve come to realize that there are many different ways to get into shape. You’ve been involved in regular gyms in the past and have had success with it. You never really thought about it too much until now, but you’re wondering if you should try out Crossfit or if you should just go back to regular gym routines.

Does Crossfit have any Benefits?

If you’re looking for something that’s going to push you to your limits and force you to work harder than you ever have before, then yes, Crossfit will do that. You’ll be training in many different aspects of fitness such as weightlifting, sprinting, gymnastics, and a host of other exercises.

You’ll also get the support of others who are working out around you. Many people who participate in Crossfit gyms report feeling less alone when they’re working out. The community aspect of these gyms is very strong as many of the people you work out with will help and encourage each other.

The main drawback of this type of gym is that it can be quite expensive. Most Crossfit gyms require an initiation fee as well as a monthly fee to use their facilities. (Some are even classified as a private gym where you have to be approved for membership) In addition, the focus on competition can create a more aggressive atmosphere than other gyms.

If you’re an introvert or aren’t interested in the more competitive nature of these gyms, it’s best to find another type of gym that you’d be more comfortable in.

Is Crossfit Right For You?

First and foremost, you need to assess what your main reason is for working out.

How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What do you want to achieve?

If your main goal is to lose weight then it would be best to find a gym that will help you achieve that goal in a safe and healthy manner. This may not be the best choice.

Yes, you will lose weight but it is not because Crossfit is burning a high number of calories from fat when you’re done. (Studies show that people actually burn about the same amount of calories regardless of what they’re doing) You will lose weight due to eating less and throwing your body into a caloric deficit. It’s possible to lose weight in a healthy way without the aid of Crossfit but it’s not recommended because you won’t be as dedicated without the community aspect and competitive nature involved.

If you’re just looking to get into shape or develop a hobby then this could be a good fit for you. You’ll have access to professional trainers who can show you proper workouts and techniques. You’ll also have people around you that are working towards similar goals which can create a supportive environment.

In addition, the different types of exercises can keep your body guessing and help you become more well-rounded. The main drawback is that it can be quite expensive, especially if you don’t have a lot of money.

How You Can Benefit From Crossfit

If you like the idea of Crossfit and want to try it out but don’t want to break the bank, try finding a school that offers scholarships or needs volunteers in exchange for classes. (Some schools offer this but it’s always good to call and ask what your options are)

You can also check if your community college offers it. Many offer gym memberships at a lower cost than a private facility and you may already have access to other resources such as a pool, tracks, and weight rooms.

Another alternative is to find a partner with whom you can work out with at home. Create a space in your home for workouts and use only the equipment you have. You’ll need to make a budget for this but if you really want to try out Crossfit, it’s an option.

Also, give yourself time to learn and practice the skills involved in these types of workouts. (Make sure your space is safe) It takes most people several months to build up the skills and stamina necessary to join a regular Crossfit class but by going at your own pace, you can learn at your own speed.

Crossfit may not be right for everyone but it has helped a lot of people get and stay fit. It’s important to find what works best for you and your lifestyle so that you can see results and enjoy your workouts.
