“Thrive Energy Cookbook” (Book Review)

The Thrive Energy Cookbook is a cookbook published by a company called “VegKitchen”. They claim that their products are designed to provide you with the energy and nutrients needed to live your best life. Their website says:

“We believe that healthy living starts at home. That’s why we created VegKitchen – a line of delicious, easy-to-prepare meals made from whole foods, like real food.”

But what does it really mean? What exactly is the “energy” they’re talking about? Is it just good old fashioned eating or do they have something else in mind?

Let’s take a look at the ingredients list of their cookbooks:

Ingredients List for “Vegan” Cookbook:

1 cup raw almonds

2 cups cooked quinoa (cooked)

4 cups cooked brown rice (cooked)

3/4 cup uncooked oats (unroasted)* (soaked overnight in water, drained & rinsed)** **If using oat flour instead of rolled oats, substitute 1/2 cup for the soaked oatmeal. *You can use any kind of dried fruit you want! Raisins are a good choice. You can also use fresh fruit!

1 cup brown sugar or sucanat

2 cups dried fruit (use the same ones you picked for the cereal if you want! Or try chopped apples, apricots or pineapple)

2 cups chopped raw almonds (optional)

1 cup vegan chocolate chips (optional)

Now, you’re probably thinking…no way am I eating all that crappy food!

But guess what?

You don’t have to! VegKitchen has a heathy alternative that’s actually worth eating. It’s called the “Thrive Diet.” It’s just a simple tweak of their original recipes. Instead of using their ingredients, you’ll be using these:
