3 Questions to Ask Yourself First:


What do I want out of my life?


How can I achieve it?


Who am I trying to serve with this endeavor?

If you answered “I don’t know” or “not sure”, then you are probably not ready to be a crossfitter yet. If you answered “I’m not sure, but I’ll figure it out later”, then you need to get your head straight first before pursuing this profession.

You might think that if you have no idea what you want out of life, why would anyone else care?

Well, that’s not necessarily true. People like to feel special and appreciated. They may even love the feeling of being needed. You need to understand that when you’re in a position where you have influence over others’ lives, they will appreciate it if you show them how much you value their time and energy. So before you decide whether or not to pursue this profession, here are some things to consider:

What Do I Want Out of My Life?

You need to be able to answer this question in full, because you’re doing more than just serving yourself. If you have no idea as to what you want out of your life, and you end up working with a team, they will suffer too because you will be unable to give them any clear goals. Think about what kind of impact you want to leave on the world. Think about where you see yourself in 5 years. Think about the legacy you want to build and the kind of people you want to help. Most importantly, think about how this will help you as a person. As a coach, you will be in a position to help others on a regular basis, so your own satisfaction is just as important as your client’s.

How Can I Achieve It?

This is where most people fall short. They have no idea how to turn their dreams into reality. I get it. I had no idea either. I thought that I just had to jump right into things and eventually success would come to me. While this can sometimes be true, you need a concrete plan in order to achieve your goals. Even if your goals are not entirely certain yet, you need to decide as soon as possible what steps you need to take in order to reach them. There is no such thing as an unrealistic goal. There are only unrealistic plans. Don’t be afraid to create a step-by-step guide on how to reach your goals. This will put you much closer towards your destination.

Who Am I Trying to Serve?

This is probably the most important question of all.

Are you trying to serve yourself or others?

It seems like a no-brainer, but a lot of people forget about this part. You need to find your purpose in life.

What is it that makes you get out of bed in the morning?

For most people, they like to feel like they are serving a greater purpose than just themselves. This may be one of the main reasons why people become doctors, lawyers, and politicians. They are all serving others in some way. As a coach, you too can choose to serve others. You don’t have to become a doctor or a politician in order to do this. You just need to make sure that the path you’re pursuing is one that ultimately benefits others as well.

Are You Willing to Sacrifice?

Of course you are. That’s why you’re here. However, most people fail to consider exactly what this means. In order to achieve anything worthwhile in life, you have to be willing to give up a few things now in order to gain even more later on. This philosophy applies to business as well. You need to determine how much you’re willing to give up in order to reach your goals. This might involve time, money, relationships, or anything else you hold dear. Consider this before moving on.

Do You Have a Back-Up Plan?

This one is very important. No matter how certain you are that you will achieve your goal, you need to create a back-up plan just in case things don’t go as expected. Having a back-up plan will allow you to quickly shift your focus to alternative methods of reaching your destination if need be. If you don’t create a back-up plan and your primary plans fail, then you will undoubtedly suffer much greater consequences. At the very least, have a back-up plan for your back-up plan.

Why Should I Listen to You?

You shouldn’t. This information is here to help guide you, but it is YOU who must take the first steps towards a better life. If at any point you feel as if this information is not serving you, then discard it immediately. Remember, YOU are in control of your own destiny. No one else.

Moving Forward

Once you have considered all of these factors, then and only then are you ready to move forward. Take a look at your life.

Are you happy with it? Do you see a positive future or are you doomed to fail?

Now is the time to make changes if needed. Once you have fixed all of the problems you see and are confident that you will indeed reach your goals, then all that’s left is to put these theories into practice and never look back.
