You do not need to worry about anyone picking on you because everyone is respectful in this sport. You might be wondering what events are actually involved in weightlifting competitions. There are two major types, and these are the snatch and the clean and jerk.

In the snatch, you pick up a weight from the floor and put it above your head in one movement. The clean and jerk is similar to this, except you first lift the weight off of the floor then put it above your head. You get three chances to record a successful lift in each event, and it does not matter if the weights are heavier as long as you put them above your head.
